Project Quantum - A Collection of Computing Quizzes

Project Quantum is an ambitious project to crowd source a bank of high quality multiple choice questions for assessing computing in schools, developed jointly by Computing At School, The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), Cambridge Assessment and the Diagnostic Questions team.

The questions have been grouped into the three main elements of national curriculum computing:

  • Computer science (foundations)
  • Information technology (applications)
  • Digital literacy (implications)

The quizzes in most topics have been developed in sets of three. One quiz can be used as a baseline; one quiz can be used as formative assessment during teaching, perhaps as ‘hinge’ questions between the introduction of a concept and a practical activity; the last quiz could be used later to check that pupils have understood the content.

Every quiz and question here can also be located using the navigation features of Diagnostic Questions. Individual questions are available via the questions tab. Individual quizzes are available via the quizzes tab.

This collection page will be updated frequently with new quizzes, so please keep checking back!

As a teacher, for every question you can see:

  • Data on how many students have answered this question, how many chose each answer, and what explanations they gave.
  • A per-question professional dialogue thread, which allows you to offer constructive feedback to the author.

It is also easy for you to write new questions or group existing questions into quizzes.
